What size is the quilt and how many t-shirts are needed? :

The limit does not exist! This is the classic game of which came first - the chicken or the egg! Option 1 : Send all the shirts to ELF, the shirts will be analyzed and the size determined. Then the price will be calculated based on this size. Borders can be added to make it larger, or shirts can be omitted to lower the price.

Option 2 : Establish a budget for the quilt. Before sending the shirts, divide them into “must haves/would really like/add in if needed” piles. ELF will measure the size of the shirts and reverse engineer the size of the quilt based on the budget.

To give a more concrete answer… On average, 25 to 35 shirts is a good number which will make a nice and cozy sized throw.

What is a “good sized” throw? :

A good sized throw is between 5’ x 5’ and 6’ x 7’ (any anywhere in between!) ELF can make any size t-quilt, and even a big enough t-shirt quilt to fit on a bed! The smallest size would be 4’ x 4’.

How much does a t-shirt cost? :

Another great question! T-shirt quilts are priced by the square foot, for both borderless and bordered versions. The price per square foot (sf) is $25. For example a 5’ x 5’ throw is 25sf, so the price is $625. A 6’ x 6’ throw is 36sf which is $900.

How to prepare and ship :

• Wash and dry shirts on warm with no fabric softener or dryer sheets.

• Mark the sides to use with painter/masking tape.

• $250 deposit required per quilt via check, cash, or Venmo.

Things to note :

• Most any shirt or sweatshirt material and size can be used. Yes, that old jersey can be used!

• Please inform ELF of any favorite colors (or non-liked colors!) of the recipient.

• Typical lead time is 6-8 weeks. Inquire if needed sooner, most likely it can be accommodated if for a special event!

• Cutting of shirts will not start until size and price are agreed upon and deposit sent.

Memory Bear

Bears are available in medium or large. Small bears ($75) are approximately 12" tall and require one shirt size medium or larger, or multiple smaller shirts. Medium bears ($100) are approximately 18" tall and require one shirt size large (or larger), or multiple smaller shirts.

Keepsake Shirt Pillows

Finished pillows measure 16"x16". One ladies/men shirt will be typically be sufficient for one pillow, front and back. Any type of shirt can be used : collared, t-shirt, sweatshirt, jersey, dress, or favorite jacket!
